Happy New Year,
Our third grade students are striving for excellence in every subject area. In Language Arts, students have been researching topics and using multiple resources to formulate opinions, Public Service Announcements (PSAs), and critiques of different authors' work. In Mathematics, students have been learning the concept of area and perimeter in 2 dimensional shapes and abstract shapes. Students have been using strategies of adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division. In Science, students have been exploring the Solar System and all of its components. Students have also have been making connections on how the certain elements in space affect the Earth's weather. In Social Studies, students have been learning about the explores of different countries.
As you can see, we are learning a lot and making sure our students are exposed to content knowledge that will make them successful on our end of the year assessments and life. We believe we can do it. Therefore we will keep striving.

Kindergarten continues to practice reading and writing through our sight words, decodeable books, and journals. In Math, we are learning to add and subtract numbers 11-19. After learning about how to add and subtract with small numbers, we're ready for the teens! In Science, we are reviewing science skills and the scientific method. We are learning about different kinds of tools we can use to observe! For Social Studies, we are learning about culture! We learn that all people are different and alike in different ways.
