CMIT Elementary TIGERS Rocks at the Robotics Competition

It was a day of competition, as well as celebration of robotics and creativity, at Anne Arundel County Community College on Saturday January 24 in the robotics competition called “Battle of the Bay FLL robotics competition”. The event hosted 16 teams of 9-to 14-year-olds in the area. CMIT elementary tigers’ team did an awesome job in the competition. Our team of Akintunji A, Kiyah B, Kenrick G, Harvis M, Chelsea M, Leah M, Roshni P, Jayden R, Cameron T, and Sanaa V. placed 3rd in action part of the contest. The robot that they programmed and designed scored 210 points in the field while their fans, parents and volunteers, cheered them on. This was a great accomplishment for our school community considering our 4th and 5th grade students compete against mostly middle school students during the contest. In addition to Robot Design, a team should also place high on Project Design and Core Values to be qualified for the state tournament. Our team will focus more on these areas for the next year. You may also read more about the event and our robotics team in the Capitol Gazette’s article.
