We are very excited about our upcoming trip to Camp Schmidt. We will leave the school this Thursday June 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. and return Friday June 5, 2015 at 12:00 p.m.!

Students did an amazing job selling items at the talent show. Way to be little entrepreneurs!

Students have been practicing converting time in math. In science, students are watching the life cycle of 5 painted butterflies that we received when they were larva.

  2nd Grade

2nd graders have been busy testing this week: SAT 10 (Tuesday & Friday) & SRI (Wednesday). We thank you for getting your children to school on time and ready for testing success as they arrive with a full belly, well rested, and ready to test with a positive, respectful, "I can" attitude.

The 2nd graders enjoyed a Field Trip to the Baltimore Aquarium on Thursday, June 4th. Special thanks to the staff and parents who made this event a huge success!

As we look forward to next week, CMIT Elementary's first Fit & Fun Field Day will be held on Friday, June 11, 2015. It is an all-day event and volunteers are needed. WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF ADDITIONAL PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE THIS DAY THE SUCCESS THAT IT CAN BE! The day is planned with fun activities such as a Carnival with a Limbo event, Just Dance activities and a bean bag toss, Zumba activities and a climbing wall event in the gym. Other fun activities include: basketball, jump rope, hula hoop, water relays, a sack race, a jog-a-thon, cooking demonstrations, a moon bounce activity and so much more! PLEASE, sign up at the link listed below if you are interested. We are looking especially for parents with fingerprint clearances so that the teachers may have a chance to use the restroom periodically! Additionally, PTO is looking for donations of small water bottles, healthy snacks and juice boxes for the day. Please sign up below or email Miss Marsh and/or Mr. Hatcher if you are available to assist in ANY way! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4aafac28a2fe3-fitfun.

Once again, we ask that you discuss with your children what proper behavior and a respectful attitude looks like in school. We realize it is the end of the year, however, the basic rules of respect for teachers, adults and fellow classmates as well as taking responsibility for one's own actions STILL apply and should be reviewed each morning and evening. This will REALLY help us make it through the end of the school year successfully and peacefully. Please remind your children of our motto: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

  3rd Grade News

The third grade students were busy this week taking their last SRI test. We had a field trip to the Baltimore Aquarium and are looking forward to Fit and Fun Field Day next week! (Parent volunteers are welcome!)

This was our last week preparing our social studies project. The students had great ideas including a shirt that changes color by a button and even a watch that takes you back in time! In science, the students reviewed their energy unit and prepared to take a science assessment. The next science unit will focus on STEM and the students will be working to create a boat that holds the most weight.

The students are working on plotting data and creating graphs in math (topic 16) and read a biography in language arts. They will be creating their own biography next week in language arts.
