  Counselors Corner!

Hello Tigers!

Please allow me to take this space to introduce myself: My name is Ms. Whitney Ritchie and I am so excited to be your Professional School Counselor at CMIT Elementary this year!
A little bit about me…

I am a passionate and dedicated Professional School Counselor with experience in Prince George’s County Public and Charter Schools. I am committed to supporting student achievement through removing barriers that limit student performance, while developing and maintaining a school wide counseling program that supports academic achievement, social and emotional development, and college and career readiness.

I am a strong believer in collaboration with staff, administration, parents (that’s you!), students, the community, and all other stakeholders, to provide a learning environment with high expectations, rigor, and individual accountability that will be witnessed and assessed through our Tiger’s performance character.

The desire to be comprehensive, preventative and proactive drives the direction of my School Counseling program, as well as its purpose.

I am dedicated to establishing a program that is preventative and proactive, data-driven and developmentally sound, accessible to all stakeholders. I have a passion for designing interventions to address the whole school community with interactive classroom lessons, peer mediation, advisement, and group and individual counseling. I believe in empowering others through facilitative means, and that it is my role to guide and support those means for all members of the school community. I am focused on Positive Character Development to further our students in not just being smart, but also good, promoting an enriching school climate preparing life-long learners and contributors to society.

I love my Orioles and Ravens, the Inner Harbor, the Eastern Shore, and in my opinion, any weekend spent with a bushel of crabs is a weekend perfectly spent! I have lived in and loved Maryland for over 10 years now, and while I proudly call it home, I am still a Jersey Girl ☺

I am so excited to serve the CMIT Elementary community and to see what we can do with this 2015-2016 school year! You will hear from me often as I will seek out your opinions and assistance, and please feel invited to contact me! Lets make this year the best year yet!

Most Sincerely,
Ms. Ritchie

  Student Drop-Off & Dismissal

Your cooperation and patience are appreciated!

Parents, in order to expedite the process, we need all drivers to remain in the car with the engine running so that we are considerate to all car riders. A staff member will assist with the door opening and students exiting and entering the car. Please consider the time and safety of others as we travel in two lanes to the cafeteria door in the afternoon. Please prepare the students to exit the car with back packs in hand. The decision to turn off the car, get out and open the trunk delays the process.

Also, all car riders should drive to the last or second drive way to drop off at the cafeteria door.

Drive Safely!!!!

Mrs. Respass

  Fifth grade

Fifth grade is off to a great start! Students should have completed their first tenmarks math assignment. Students need to bring in supplies for their ballon powered car on Monday. Students will be required to read and practice math drills every night starting next week. Logs will be distributed September 1st. We are very excited to have a new class of fifth graders.
